MY FOX LA Article: Hangover Facial

Party Too Much? Try A Hangover Facial

Posted: Dec 29, 2010 10:53 PM MST
It's the season to overindulge, but some insist that you can still look hot after too much partying thanks to Hollywood's hottest new beauty trend -- the Hangover Facial.

Sean Sweeney is feeling the pain after a night of too much fun.

Sean Sweeney
"I've got, like, bags under my eyes, and I feel kinda, bluhhh, a little zombie-ish, Frankensteinish."

The Hollywood scenester's suffering from a hangover, but he says he's found a cure.

Sweeney's getting the "hangover facial."

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"I had to come up with something that was very comforting and nurturing and even out the skintones and take away the puffiness, and leave them with a nice even glow so they're ready for another night of partying."

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"You combine that with alcohol and you're a big mess."

She says more and more folks are turning to the hangover facial because it's a way look good and to soothe the pain.

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"They're already hungover, so I have to do everything to make them feel better."

She says Sweeney's skin is...

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"It's very dry, dehydrated, flaky. There's puffiness under the eyes, and fine lines around the eyes and in the forehead."

Sean Sweeney
"I sound like Quasimodo."

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"Wait till you see the end result."

She gets to work.

Using aromatherapy and a five-minute facial massage, she exfoliates with a hydrating citrus scrub.

Then she preps him for a fifteen-minute, four-layer mask with a hydrating gel that depuffs the eyes.

The final touches... LED lights to reduce blotchiness, puffiness and to contour the face. The lights also target the eye area.

Deborah DePiano, DePianoSkin.com
"He has some fine lines around the eyes, and this is gonna help plump those lines up."

Sweeney is now ready for his closeup. Gone are the bags. His once pasty, ashy skin is now rosy and dewy.

Sean Sweeney
"Wow, I look like a Backstreet Boy. Most importantly, I think my hangover's gone."

A hangover facial from Depiano Skin takes about 50 minutes and will cost you $120.

Dry Oils written by Deborah DePiano

Sometimes referred to as clean oil are best for those who want the moisturizing effects of an oil with the greasy residue. "Regular body creams take longer to absorb. But dry oil dries quickly without any oily remains." say skin care expert Deborah DePiano/owner of Los Angeles DePiano Skin. Dry oils work best on normal to dry skin types-if your skin is extremely dry or tends to get ashy it may not provide the long-term moisture that a thicker cream can.

Extending your Facials...MYFOXLA.COM

We all want to have the freshest healthiest skin possible. While there are many promises made the one true fact is; you have to keep your skin clean and moisturized. Here are a few ways that you can take charge of your skin care to ultimately reap those desired benefits.

Oprah has claimed the Clarisonic to be “one of her favorite” things. While she can probably afford to have facials everyday, most of us don’t have that luxury. This product will certainly increase the life of a facial by keeping your skin cleaner and healthier longer but it also allows you to stay on top of your skin care regimen even if you have not had a facial recently. The price tag here might seem large but, this is a product that you will use over and over again.

Cost is an important factor in caring for ourselves in the present climate, so if you are looking for other ways to exfoliate your skin here are a couple of options. Using an Egyptian cotton cloth is a good idea or a MicroFiber cloth. Both are available at many stores and are relatively inexpensive.

Whichever method you choose exfoliating only the first step in maintaining beautifully fresh skin. In my next article you can learn about the truth and lies of anti-aging serums as well as moisturizers. Your skin is something you wear everyday....You cannot hide it!

Winter Skin Care Tips

Winter’s dryness can take a toll on your skin leaving it dry and cracked. Don’t let the harsh, freezing wind dry out your skin this year. Stay smooth and supple with these winter skin survival tips:

1. On the west coast, the driest part of the year is from October to February. On the east coast, because of the cold weather, heater is often used which also dries out skin. Therefore, no matter where you live, use a humidifier at night. This will add moisture to the air which helps relieve dry skin, chapped lips and sore throats.

2. Take shorter showers. Your skin can be stripped of moisture during long, hot baths. Limit the number of showers or baths to one a day and only use soap on body parts that produce odor.

3. Apply moisturizer right after shower. Use cocoa butter and products such as Alba Hand & Body lotion.

4. Always apply sun block after your moisturizer.. yes, even in the winter you should make sure you use sun block!

5. Exfoliate. Get rid of that dry flaky skin. Sabon makes a great body scrub which is only available online or in NYC.

6. Take cod liver oil from Nordic Naturals. This oil has the best after taste and is very easy to take.
