Just because a product says "natural" doesn't mean it's necessarily good for you to use. It is important to take precaution when choosing facial creams, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, moisturizers and any other personal products. Many of these products contain extremely harmful chemicals including one linked to causing what can only be labeled as an "epidemic" of skin allergies and other skin issues.
Using a product once is not really the issues, but when you think about how many products we put on our skin each day, day after day, month after month, we are putting ourselves at risk for skin problems.
A panel of Dermatologists released a new report of a specific chemical called methylisothiazolinone (try saying that out loud) also known as MI which has lead to a massive increase in cases of eczema and other horrible skin allergies. The U.S. and Europe are reporting MI as safe and non-toxic but many dermatologists and doctors are trying to put an immediate ax on the use of MI.
Over the years, MI has been mixed with other preservatives so that the concentration is rarely low. However as other chemicals were axed (due to skin allergy outbreaks) MI is still allowed and the percentage of it's use has increased.
While some companies have chosen to eliminate the use of MI, there are still many companies who are choosing to keep it in their products at the moment.
I urge you to always read the labels of the beauty products you choose to put on your skin and body. If you are having trouble choosing the proper face products, please call or email me to set up a one on one appointment with me. Do your research! Live happy, live well.
